COMMON MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE WHEN PICKING HANDLE DESIGNS AND SIZES

Shopping for kitchen or bathroom accessories can be very exciting, but selecting accessories for these two rooms can sometimes be overwhelming. There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration while shopping for handles, and not knowing what to look for could lead you to make some costly errors.

For example, not getting the correctly sized handles with the right shade or style could cause a clash with everything else in the room and lead to an unnecessary problem.

At AMBA, we believe that understanding the varying styles of accessories is an essential part of choosing handles that match the room. To improve your understanding and help you select handles that best suit your plans, we have a compiled a list of the most common mistakes people make when picking handle designs and sizes, and how to avoid them.

  1. Incorrectly measuring the size of the handle.People always measure the full handle size when shopping for handles, but that is not how to know if the handle will fit in pre-existing holes. You have to measure from the center of the first hole to the center of the next to get the right size to replace the old one.
  2. Not knowing which handles to use. While putting new handles for your cabinets or drawers, you want to stray away from using the same size and style of handles everywhere and try to mix it up if you want to create layering in your space. Mixing and matching is an excellent idea, but there has to be a flow to where the handles are placed.

It is nice to place knobs on all doors and pulls or cups on drawers. Another way to mix them is fitting knobs on upper doors, pulls on lower doors and cups on drawers.

There has to be a consistent mix to make it all come together. For drawers, if you want to put longer handles, always measure the inside of the drawer frame to see how much you have to work with.

  1. Choosing the wrong colors.Often, people think that handles have to match appliances, but having multiple colors in a kitchen from handles to appliances, and lighting creates layering. It is important to mix metals that complement each other. For example, get polished nickel handles for your cabinets and have lighting over the island that is made from polished nickel and black mix or vice-versa works well too.
